What is a Postpartum Doula?

Backed by training and experience, a Postpartum Doula offers caring and knowledgeable support during the first few days, weeks and months following the arrival of a new baby. This period of time, often referred to as the “fourth trimester” can be emotional and overwhelming at times while a new family adjusts to their changing roles. A Postpartum Doula can help to relieve some of this stress, as every family has different needs during this time.

Here are some of the ways a Postpartum Doula can help to support you and your family during this time:

* Recovery from birth

* Emotional Support

* Sleep (overnights/naps)

* Infant care and techniques (bathing, swaddling, healthy/safe sleep habits)

* Housework (laundry, dishes, light cleaning)

* Meal prep (healthy snacks, light meals)

* Sibling care

* Pet care

* Referrals (pediatricians, lactation consultants, childcare, etc)
